About Cycling Trend

CyclingTrend is an independent cycling publication that does things the slow way: we ride the gear, name the trade-offs, and put a real person’s name on every verdict. From race coverage to long-term reviews to ranked gear recommendations, everything here exists to answer one question honestly — is this worth your money and your miles?

Why We Exist

Cycling content online has a problem, and every rider knows it: it’s overwhelming, often biased, and frequently outdated. Reviews written from press releases. Rankings ordered by commission. “Best of” lists untouched since publication. We started CyclingTrend to fix that — not with slogans, but with structure: named authors on every article, a written testing methodology anyone can read, verdicts that include the reasons not to buy, and updates when the answer changes.

What We Do

Reviews and rankings. We test gear over real miles — sometimes months of them — and turn what we learn into ranked recommendations across helmets, apparel, storage, tools, bikes and more. The reviews are the evidence; the rankings are the verdicts.

Buying guides. Specs confuse; plain language helps. Our guides — from finding your frame size to choosing a mountain bike — teach the decision before you spend, so the shopping makes sense.

Racing and industry coverage. We follow the pro racing calendar — previews, verdicts, and how to actually watch — and our Industry section digs into what the sport’s changes mean, from motor wars to governance debates.

How We Work

We’re honest about a distinction most sites blur: some of our recommendations come from hands-on testing — gear we’ve ridden, loaded, washed and lived with — and some are research-based picks built from deep multi-source analysis, clearly framed as exactly that, and upgraded to tested status as we get our hands (and legs) on the products. You can always tell which is which from the language on the page, and our testing methodology explains the standards behind both. What never varies: brands don’t pay for placement, can’t buy a verdict, and never see reviews before you do — our editorial policy puts that in writing.

How We Make Money

Simply: if you buy something through a link on CyclingTrend, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. That’s the model — it keeps the site free, and it never decides a ranking. Products earn their positions before monetization is ever considered, and we recommend plenty of gear that earns us nothing. The full details are in our affiliate disclosure.

Who We Are

Kristina — Lead Editor. Cycling Trend’s lead writer, Kristina, brings over a decade of hands-on experience in endurance riding, bikepacking and sustainable travel. Her expertise is grounded in thousands of miles across road, gravel and mountain routes throughout Europe and beyond.

Her work combines practical testing with thoughtful evaluation of rider needs, from urban commuters to long-distance touring cyclists. She has collaborated with established cycling brands and community groups to support safer cycling practices and inclusive riding culture. Her writing has appeared in specialist cycling forums and publications, reinforcing her standing within the cycling community.

When not reviewing equipment or mapping new routes, she continues to ride, test and refine her understanding of what truly benefits cyclists.

The Receipts

Claims are cheap; here’s the work. We tested 32 gravel tires across three bikes through a full season. We spent months answering whether the Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Pro deserves the hate (mostly, no — with caveats). We gave the Garmin Edge 1050 two full years before rendering a verdict — and admitted where we’d been wrong. That’s the standard the rest of the site is being built to.
